The general membership of the clan possess one of the following ranks - Ensign, Lieutenant, Commander, Captain, and Admiral. Following is an explication of these ranks.
Members bearing this lowest rank are the newest recruits into the clan. Ensigns do not possess admin or suffrage. Their responsibilities are to learn their games well, if they haven't already, and to integrate themselves into the clan. Ensigns must wear the following tag: [E].
This is the stage at which members gain the right to vote in elections and referendums. They wear the tag [SL].
JK Admin (junior admin) comes on this level. Lieutenants wear the tag [LT].
Members are experienced in their games and knowledgeable of the clan by the time they reach these ranks. Lieutenants defer to these members; also, lieutenant commanders defer to commanders. Lieutenant commanders wear the tag [LC], and commanders use [CO].
At this rank and beyond, members hold AM Admin (senior admin). Captain is the highest rank a member can have without being a division leader. And it is the highest rank to which division leaders can promote their charges. Captains wear the tag [CA].
Division leaders of this clan hold the rank of admiral. They also gain RCON, the ability to control servers. The Cabinet selects united. admirals. Admirals wear the tag [A]. Admirals promote united. within their divisions, with presidential ratification. Promotions are based upon how members do the following:
This should be basic: Don't be rude to other players. Don't abuse admin privileges; you have them to regulate rule breakers, not to have a power trip. Don't insult or disrespect your fellow members. And generally just follow the rules of the forum and the rules of the division. Also, if you're on another server, and it has rules different from ours, don't argue with the admins. Just follow its regulations, or come back to our server. Part of "honor, respect, and maturity" is doing as the Romans do when in Rome. Consistently violating this guideline won't only result in lack of promotion, but will lead to expulsion. united. will not tolerate members who besmirch its name with rudeness and disrespect.
Play with us when you get the chance. Our admirals can't evaluate you if they don't see you. This isn't to say you need to play with united. all the time; we encourage you to go forth sometimes and impress upon the external gaming community united.'s worth. Or you might want to spend some time in the real world. But, appearing on a united. server or with a united. group once every half-month or so will slow your progress up the rank ladder. In addition, try to make substantive posts on our forums. This doesn't mean filling up the Post Whore board, but, for example, posting evaluations of potential recruits, helping answer members' questions, etc. This would also include just helping out the clan, when you can.
You don't have to be the best player in the world to be in united., but demonstrations of skill, or at least the willingness to acquire it, will be an ancillary factor in promotions. This means, it won't be the most important consideration, by any means, but it will still be judged. (The admirals will decide on their own how to evaluate skill.)
united. members earn their promotions. They don't whine and plead for them, because they're not in the clan for admin and/or rank, but to have a good time and play the game with friends. Begging and asking for promotions will reflect negatively on players, thus actually diminishing their chances of promotion. Naturally, some players will exhibit some traits better than others, and that's okay. Maybe you're better at dueling people on the pad or ventilating terrorists in the office or grappling with evil monsters than making posts in the forum. Or vice versa. That won't hinder your chances of promotion. This is just a guide, not a straightjacket. (Well, except for numbers one and four... okay, maybe it's half guide, half straightjacket.) Admirals will announce promotions on the Now Hear This board on the 25th of every month. They will promote those whom they feel are deserving. |
